Max Schachter

On February 14th, 2018, disaster struck Max’s family. His son Alex was one of 17 children and teachers murdered during the Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School massacre. Since then, Max has been the preeminent force behind championing policy change at the highest levels of the United States government to improve school safety and security across America. His relentless advocacy and personal mission to make schools safe for children culminated in his founding of the Safe Schools for Alex foundation. His foundation's mission is to provide parents, students, school districts and legislators the most current school safety best practices, resources, and tools to create safe schools nationally through its access to subject matter experts and apolitical advocacy to ensure all children learn in safe, healthy and supportive school environments. Max is bringing tangible change and providing a roadmap to protect children in their schools as he partners and consults with school districts and law enforcement agencies to evaluate and improve their existing safety solutions.

Max's passion, relentless drive, and unique technical knowledge powers his friendly and collaborative problem- solving approach that accelerated his nomination and participation on local, state, and national committees that address school safety issues. Max is committed to bringing common sense solutions to improving school safety, with his single mission of leading a national clearinghouse that drives school safety best practices across the United States.
